Healthcare Conferences UK in association with Christopher Fincken, Independent Member UK Caldicott Guardian Council, (Chairman 2012-2017) are pleased to announce this second National On-Demand Conference which will focus on Information Sharing and Caldicott Principles in the health and social care of children and young adults. Following the success of our previous Caldicott Guardian National Conferences, and feedback from our regular Caldicott Training Masterclasses, this On-Demand conference will focus on developing your role in improving communication and information sharing around children and young people whilst ensuring patient confidentiality.
“Information sharing is essential for effective safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. It is a key factor identified in many serious case reviews (SCRs), where poor information sharing has resulted in missed opportunities to take action that keeps children and young people safe.”
“Information sharing is identified as a factor in the majority of serious case reviews that take place following the death or injury of a child. Health and social care staff need to share information to help them provide better care and earlier interventions for children who are considered vulnerable and at risk.”
The recent CQC Report “Mental health care of children and young people during the Covid-19 pandemic” highlights concerns around information sharing with children and families:
“In some areas we found issues and concerns were raised around the lack of information sharing and joined-up working, which could have negative implications on the quality of care children, young people and their families receive... Some families reported that during the pandemic they did not feel involved and/or were unaware of what was happening with services.”
